What is low-E glass?

Smarter Windows and Doors

Low-E stands for low emissivity which basically means that the glass is designed to reflect heat back to its source.

This is accomplished by coating the glass with a very thin metallic layer allowing the short wave radiation which is the light from the sun to shine through while filtering out a percentage of the infrared light which is the heat.

This process helps to keep your house cooler in the summer by reflecting some of the sun’s heat energy back outside. It also helps keep your house warmer in the winter by reflecting heat from inside your house back inside.

Low-E glass is available on all our new construction windows and replacement windows.
